They have satellite TV, telephones, electric generators, water and sewage treatment
The government made a great deal of money by taxing the oil wells found in Alaska, so they used the money to help build up the area and bring in modern conveniences
They built an air strip, a huge gym, a clinic, a preschool, town offices, a post office
