Alice Grows up
When Alice was an adult, the town had grown to a village of 150 people, in 25 log homes
Each family had a dog sled and team and a boat for the summer
A new school was built, with non- Eskimo teachers. The kids were taught standard American things, which had little to do with their life at home. They were forbidden to speak their native language, Yup’ik, and had to learn English
Planes came to help keep the village stocked with supplies, and a clinic was built, in case someone got sick
